What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff App Engineer (Frontend) position at TAPPS?
Hiring quickly! Staff App Engineer, React Native focused, with an exciting AI stealth startup in the digital health space. This is a hybrid role based in Cambridge, MA: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote. Local Boston/Cambridge strongly preferred. We will consider candidates in NYC who can be onsite in Cambridge 3 days per week and/or open to relocation. No agencies please. We are unable to sponsor visas for this role.
The must-haves:
Strong React Native experience in a regulated environment. Healthcare, digital health, health tech, insurance, financial services, banking, government, or other highly regulated product environments are all relevant. HIPAA/PHI experience is especially valuable.
This is not a generic frontend role. The right person has owned mobile architecture and can make strong technical decisions around state management, navigation, module boundaries, release infrastructure, observability, security, and long-term platform direction.
What we need:
8 years of professional post-degree engineering experience.
Deep React Native/mobile app experience.
Experience building and scaling production mobile applications.
Strong mobile architecture judgment.
Experience with CI/CD, feature flags, staged rollouts, OTA strategy, crash/performance monitoring, App Store release workflows, or related mobile release infrastructure.
Comfortable working around sensitive data, security, compliance, and regulated product constraints.
Ability to partner across frontend, backend/API, product, and business stakeholders.
Hands-on Staff-level IC, not a people-management role.
