About the Role
The Director of Business Development and Strategy will identify, develop, and execute strategic and commercial partnerships with leading healthcare institutions and organizations, and support the overall business strategy through market analyses, commercial and product strategy, competitive assessments, and other special projects as the company needs.
The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of negotiating and closing deals in healthcare, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving startup environment. This role will report to the Chief Operating and Business Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with health systems, cancer centers, academic medical centers, diagnostic laboratories, and healthcare technology companies.
- Lead the full transaction lifecycle from strategy to term sheet to deal execution and alliance management.
- Execute key contracts and licenses necessary to drive our business objectives.
- Drive evaluation of new growth opportunities, including build, buy, or partner strategies, to advance company’s platform and ecosystem.
- Develop analytical frameworks to support partnership decisions, including market analysis, competitive intelligence, and value creation models.
- Work cross-functionally with company’s research, engineering, and product teams to ensure partnerships align with the company’s scientific and technical roadmap.
- Conduct market analyses, commercial and product strategy, competitive assessments, and other special projects as needed to achieve business objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working in or with healthcare organizations, health systems, life science companies, or digital health companies in a business development or similar role
- Demonstrated track record of successfully negotiating and executing strategic partnerships and commercial agreements within the healthcare sector.
- Strong deal execution skills with experience negotiating complex agreements
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate market analysis, competitive intelligence, and financial or strategic models into actionable insights.
- Startup mindset with a strong work ethic and the ability to operate independently in an early-stage environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Advanced degree strongly preferred (MBA, JD, MD, PhD, or similar)
- Existing relationships within healthcare, diagnostics, or digital health ecosystems
- Experience working at venture-backed startups or rapidly growing healthcare companies
- Background in oncology, healthcare AI, or healthcare data platforms
