Position Summary
The Cabinet Design and Drafting Specialist combines interior design, client consultation, space planning, and technical drafting. This position works directly with clients to develop cabinetry layouts, design concepts, finish selections, and storage solutions while producing accurate Cabinet Vision drawings for manufacturing and installation. While drafting is a critical component of the role, success is driven by the ability to create beautiful, functional designs and deliver an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development
- Collaborate with clients to develop cabinetry layouts and design solutions.
- Assist clients with finish, material, hardware, and organizational selections.
- Develop creative designs for kitchens, bathrooms, closets, offices, and specialty spaces.
- Review architectural plans and coordinate cabinetry with overall project requirements.
- Present design recommendations and revisions to clients.
Drafting & Technical Documentation
- Create detailed cabinet drawings, elevations, floor plans, and shop drawings using Cabinet Vision.
- Produce accurate production-ready documentation for engineering and manufacturing.
- Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation.
- Ensure designs meet company standards and manufacturing requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering and production to resolve design challenges.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Serve as a primary design contact during project development.
- Communicate design updates clearly with clients and project teams.
- Participate in project review meetings and design discussions.
- Support continuous improvement of design standards and workflows.
Qualifications
- Experience with Cabinet Vision or similar cabinet design software.
- Strong understanding of cabinetry construction and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural plans and specifications.
- Strong organizational and detail-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or coursework in Interior Design, Drafting, Architecture, or related field.
- Experience in custom cabinetry, millwork, or residential design.
- Knowledge of cabinet manufacturing and installation processes.
Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
