Duties And Responsibilities
- Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges involving unique or controversial problems.
- Creatively meet all company and industry requirements, applying site systems to achieve quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
- Provide quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.
- Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and complex features, such as:
- Complicated technical requirements
- Use of new or special materials or processes
- Difficult coordination or oversight requirements
- Provide leadership and direction inside and outside departmental lines for programs requiring:
- New approaches to problems
- New applications of existing engineering or scientific principles
- Evaluate program results and prepare reports and recommendations.
- Identify and recommend improvements where existing technology or methodology is inadequate.
- Remain informed on technological advancements relevant to assigned areas.
- Prepare project plans, including:
- Schedules
- Budgets
- Personnel requirements
- Monitor:
- Progress
- Budget expenditures
- Work quality
- Communicate results and objectives verbally and in writing to customers, colleagues, and management.
- Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.
- Enhance field expertise through leadership in local technical societies.
- Demonstrate creativity through:
- Patent disclosures

- Engineering reports
- Technical papers and articles
- Ph.D. in applicable science or engineering discipline with 5 years’ experience, OR
- M.S. with 8 years’ experience, OR
- B.S. with 10 years’ experience or more
Personnel shall have technical knowledge of Commissioning/Startup Testing, including experience in:
- Conduct of Startup Testing
- Design Reviews
- Procedure Development
- Test Execution
- Experience using and implementing Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related directives/standards (or equivalent Commissioning/Startup programs)
- Experience developing, reviewing, approving, and presenting Technical Work Documents/Commissioning Test Procedures
- Demonstrated accountability for:
- Facility/project schedules
- Deadlines
- Budgets
- Safe performance of work
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
- Minimum 1 year of recent testing experience supporting the DOE or commercial nuclear industry
- Active DOE L or Q clearance within the past 2 years
- Startup Testing Execution Qualification Level II or III (per ASME NQA-1 test program)
