Role and Responsibilities
- Serves as a liaison between subordinates and upper management
- Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards
- Provides coaching, counseling, and disciplining to direct staff
- Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
- Addresses problems with work quality, issues between employees, and other concerns in an effective, timely manner
- Contacts insurance companies via phone or online portal to determine claim
sstatus - Documents status in client system as required
- Prepares and submits adjustments as required
- Conducts research and submits first and second level appeals
- Understands and adheres to state and federal regulations and company policies regarding compliance, integrity, patient privacy, and ethical billing and collection practices
- Utilizes the most efficient resources to secure timely payment of open claims or invoices
- Reviews insurance remittance advices for accuracy. Identifies billing errors, short-payments, overpayments, and unpaid claims and resolves accordingly, communicating any needed system changes
- Communicates consistently and professionally with other employees and/or clients
- Works within specified deadlines and stressful situations
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum (2) years of experience in medical collections with a working knowledge of managed care, commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement; home infusion experience a plus
- Working knowledge of automated billing systems; experience with CPR preferred
- Working knowledge and application of metric measurements.
- Basic accounting practices
- ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS knowledge
- Solid Microsoft Office skills required, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to independently obtain and interpret information
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
