Position Overview: We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This position may be part-time or full-time, depending on the selected candidate’s preference, experience, availability, and the firm’s needs.


This hybrid position supports a busy CPA office throughout the year, with opportunities for increased hours and responsibilities during tax season and other peak periods. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, follows established procedures, communicates clearly, and takes pride in producing accurate work while meeting deadlines.


The Bookkeeper will work closely with CPAs, senior bookkeeping staff, and other team members to support small-business clients, particularly those in the construction, real estate, and medical industries.


Position Details

  • Employment Type: Part-Time or Full-Time; may be structured as an hourly W-2 employee position or an independent-contractor engagement, depending on the candidate’s preferences
  • Location: Austin, Texas
  • Work Environment: Hybrid
  • In-Office Requirement: Two days per week preferred
  • Remote Work: Remaining scheduled hours may be completed remotely
  • Schedule: Flexible part-time or full-time hours, with additional hours potentially available during tax season and other peak periods
  • Reports To: Senior Bookkeeper


Primary Responsibilities

  • Categorize and record bank and credit card transactions.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial accounts.
  • Enter bills, expenses, deposits, invoices, and payments into QuickBooks Online.
  • Record and review journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
  • Manage and maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
  • Prepare and update schedules supporting balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and other financial statements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and accurate bookkeeping records and supporting documentation.
  • Gather, review, and organize client financial documents.
  • Communicate with clients and team members regarding missing information, discrepancies, and bookkeeping questions.
  • Follow established workflows, procedures, documentation standards, and deadlines.
  • Support catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping projects as needed.
  • Help ensure bookkeeping records comply with applicable tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to client and internal team inquiries.
  • Assist with bookkeeping, administrative, and client-service tasks assigned by the team.


Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a CPA firm, public accounting firm, or professional-services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and day-to-day accounting practices.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is strongly preferred; QuickBooks Online certification is a plus.
  • Experience recording journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
  • Experience preparing or supporting financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts, assignments, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to learn new systems, follow established procedures, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Experience supporting small businesses, particularly in the construction, real estate, or medical industries, is a plus.
