504 Coordinator
TANTASQUA REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
2026-2027 School Year
Anticipated Start Date: August 31, 2026
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES: The 504 Coordinator is accountable for evaluating and providing services for students. The /504 Coordinator works cooperatively within the school environment and is responsible for providing individual, group, and or cooperative lessons in order to assist students in accessing the educational programs. Additionally: Provides 504 building coordination including: Chairs 504 team meetings, coordinates process and procedures related to 504, and facilitates district initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Identify and assess academic and behavioral concerns through analysis of factors impacting student adjustment including factors in the home, school, and community. Assist students in identifying, modifying and/or changing behavior that interferes with achievement and school adjustment
•Provide strategies, support and resources to assist teachers in managing disability related needs in their classroom
•Collaborate with school staff and other school district personnel in implementing strategies to promote student learning
•Participate as a member of school-based teams to develop interventions for promoting students’ academic success, including modeling and coaching of strategies
•Serve as a liaison between families and the school to positively promote a collaborative process in educational planning for students by encouraging family participation in the school setting
•Consult and collaborate with outside agencies and hospitals, Refer students and/or families to appropriate community agencies
•Increase the understanding of teachers, parents, and others in the community of the causes for the problems that students may have
504 PROCESS AND MONITORING
•Reviews all 504/MTSS reports prior to meeting.
•Sets due dates for receipt of written evaluation reports
•Summarizes key results.
•Insures FAPE (free and appropriate education).
•Insures that the 504 Team identifies and provides educationally relevant and required accommodations/ services
•Finalizes 504 per district protocols.
•Reviews any ongoing progress data related to accommodations.
•Provides monthly report to director the numbers of students referred, and on 504’s at the building level
DISTRICT PROCEDURES
•Follows District procedures and protocols, including 504 process, placement, and counseling protocols.
•Reviews building based referrals for completeness of MTSS/SST process including documentation for concerns, strategy implementation and results prior to generating consent for 504 process
•Generates consent for evaluations with consultation from psychologists or other evaluators if needed
•Attends and participates in district-wide 504 department activities.
•Attends and participates in district-wide professional development activities as directed by Principal and/or Special Education Director
QUALIFICATIONS
•Valid Massachusetts DESE Counselor Licensure or similar qualifications
•Master’s Degree in a mental health or related discipline
•Approved CORI and Fingerprinting results
