TanTara's Service Center is a state of the art, highly maintained & CLEAN heavy duty repair shop. Our 18,000 sq. ft. shop offers 8 bays and has 10 diesel mechanics on staff. We pride ourselves on delivering efficient, reliable solutions to our clients while maintaining a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. We offer all tractor/trailer repair solutions to include VIK inspections on tank trailers. While servicing our own fleet of 150 trucks is a big part of what we do, we are also open to the public, maintaining numerous customer accounts with their truck/trailer repair needs.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Parts & Service Advisor based in Muscatine, IA. As part of our service team, you'll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly by supporting technicians, drivers, and dispatchers and outside service customers.
We are seeking a dedicated Parts and Service Advisor to serve as the primary point of contact for our technicians when ordering parts that are not readily available on-site. This role involves coordinating repairs, interacting with drivers, and collaborating with operations and dispatch teams to ensure timely scheduling &, prioritization of shop workflow. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-energy, fast-paced setting and possesses strong communication skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. This position reports directly to the Service Manager and offers an opportunity to contribute to the backbone of our trucking operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the main liaison for technicians, assisting with the identification, ordering, and tracking of parts not in stock to minimize downtime.
Communicate effectively with drivers to gather details on vehicle issues, diagnostics, and repair timelines.
Maintain accurate records of parts orders, service requests, and repair statuses using software systems. Provide updates and status reports via phone, email, or in-person discussions.
Handle inbound inquiries from internal teams and external vendors related to parts and services.
Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and suggesting reorder points for frequently used parts.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies during all service-related activities.
Qualifications
- Operates with a "sense of urgency". Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing needs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear, professional interactions with technicians, drivers, dispatchers, and vendors
- Strong typing skills (approximately 50 WPM or higher) for efficient data entry and documentation
- Familiarity with trucking or logistics operations is a plus, including basic knowledge of vehicle parts and repair processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and any industry-specific software (training provided).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with a customer-service-oriented mindset
