Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Recovery Counselor (CAC I, CAC II, CADC, or degree in Addiction Psychology) to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate will have experience providing substance use disorder treatment across varying levels of care, including Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) settings. This position involves facilitating therapeutic groups, conducting individual and family counseling sessions, developing individualized treatment plans, and supporting clients throughout their recovery journey using evidence-based and person-centered approaches.

This is a full-time role, Monday- Friday 9:00 AM-4:00 PM with an alternating shift 1:00 PM-9:00 PM once weekly.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough client assessments using clinical documentation standards, DSM-5 criteria, and ICD coding to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Apply the ASAM Criteria to support appropriate level-of-care recommendations, continued stay reviews, and discharge planning.
  • Deliver individual and group counseling sessions incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, and evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure immediate safety and stabilization for clients experiencing mental health or substance use crises.
  • Engage in case management activities, including intake procedures, treatment planning, progress monitoring, and discharge planning while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR) using EMR systems, ensuring timely documentation of patient care, medical records, and clinical notes in accordance with medical terminology standards.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in clinical or community settings.
  • Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management techniques.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies, mental health assessment tools, DSM-5 diagnostic evaluation processes, and ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and addiction medicine to support accurate clinical documentation and patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived experience in recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience working in PHP and/or IOP levels of care.
  • Working knowledge and practical application of the ASAM Criteria.
  • Experience supporting clients receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
