What are the responsibilities and job description for the Voice & Data Cable Technician – (LEAD TECH) position at Tandem Data?
Growing company located in Addison, TX is looking for technician that is able to work independently and with minimum supervision. Tech must know Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6, 25 pair terminations and testing (fiber is a plus but we can train you to terminate fiber if needed.)
Perform the installation, terminating, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting of voice, data, and fiber optic infrastructure cabling systems, including:
a. Installation of Cable Support Systems such as cable trays, ladder racks, J-hooks, bridle/D-rings.
b. Installation of Work Area Outlets (Faceplates and biscuit jacks)
c. Pulling Backbone and Horizontal Cable systems
d. Fire stopping including coring of firewall, installing sleeves and fire stopping.
e. Pre-Termination - organize, form, dress cables, determine length/slack, and label cables.
f. Termination - complete terminations to cross-connects blocks and patch panels.
g. Testing - use fluke and other industry standard test equipment.
h. Retrofits - remove abandoned cables.
i. Safety - demonstrate common safety practices
j. Must have working knowledge of the EIA/TIA & BICSI installation standards.
Exposure to the cross connecting phone systems and phone lines is a plus but not required: Avaya (IP Office/Partner/Merlin, etc.) Perfect opportunity for team player that is ready for advancement as company grows. Must have own tools and reliable transportation to get to office each day, a company vehicle will be supplied during the work day.
Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and drug screen. Compensation is dependent on years of experience.
