Behavioral Health Clinical Associate Lead

Job Summary: Job incumbent provides quality behavioral health services to youth, adults and families.

Representative Duties: Under the general supervision of the Upper Tanana Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor, job incumbent will be assigned from the following representative duties:

1. Provide Individual, Family, and Group counseling for Children, Adolescents, Adults, and Elders.

2. Provide Substance Abuse Assessments using DSM-5 and ASAM PPC IIIR Criteria.

3. Gather information for Comprehensive Mental Health assessments and formulate diagnoses and treatment recommendations in direct collaboration with mental health clinician and/or clinical supervisor.

4. Develop a treatment plan with special consideration to cross-cultural and dual diagnosis (mental health and substance abuse) concerns. Ensures appropriate implementation of treatment plan.

5. Provide transitional counseling following primary Mental Health, Substance Abuse or Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment.

6. Provide Prevention, Education, and Pretreatment services to children, adolescents, adults and elders regarding Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Wellness.

7. Provide and receives appropriate referrals to and from other agencies and resources.

8. Provide culturally appropriate modes of service (i.e. Talking Circles, and Subsistence Activities) as appropriate.

9. Complete Administrative and Clinical Documentation in a timely manner in order to maintain program compliance within the guidelines established by Tanana Chiefs Conference, Indian Health Services, the State, Medicaid and other regulatory agencies.

10. Provide Case Management services as needed.

11. Provide ongoing outreach services to communities served, program development, and grant compliance/maintenance including quarterly reporting, facilitating meetings.

12. Networks with area professionals to maintain communication systems for follow-up and referral.

13. Act as direct point of contact in a supervisory capacity for fellow Clinical Associates assisting in areas including, but not limited to; clinical/diagnostic review of documentation, scheduling, performance, program/activity coordination, overseeing daily functions, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in psychology, counseling, human development, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.

2. Must be certified or have the ability to be certified within one year of hire as a Chemical Dependency Counselor or hirer.

3. Five or more years of work experience in the behavioral health field. Must also be familiar with the dynamics of substance abuse and addiction, recovery and relapse prevention.

4. Experience working in Rural Alaska villages preferred.

5. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

6. Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.

7. At least two years supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Experience and education regarding provision of a variety of behavioral health services to adults, children, and adolescents, to include familiarity with: service provision, DSM V diagnosis, severely emotionally disturbed children, chronic mental illness, dual diagnosis and integrated treatment for substance abuse and mental illness, treatment planning, treatment coordination, case management, consultation, routine charting, Medicaid regulations, and professional reports. Familiarity with Fairbanks area, Interior Regional, and statewide mental health services and substance abuse treatment providers.

2. Cross-cultural treatment skills and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and traditions preferred. Familiarity with the culture and needs of individuals of Alaska Native descent.

3. Strong computer skills using electronic health records and scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

4. Strong verbal communication, analytical and interpersonal skills required.

5. Must have initiative and prioritizing skills.

6. Must work as part of a team providing quality care.

7. Knowledge and ability to adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations.

8. Basic Knowledge of grant administration
