PURPOSE We are looking for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate with interests in various applied mathematical models, particularly arising from solid/fluid mechanics, biostatistics, and opinion dynamics, as well as numerical methods for partial differential equations, especially finite element methods, both theory and implementation. A successful candidate will work in the topics of interests, which include: (1) solid-state sintering; (2) multi-component flows; in both topics, emphasis is on studying regularized phase-field models; (3) porous media flows, modeling and computations; (4) modeling of cancer development and treatment; (5) opinion dynamics. DESCRIPTION Functional Area 1: Research Percent Effort: 70% Perform analysis of applied mathematical models relevant to the project. Develop, implement, and optimize parallel finite element and numerical simulation codes. Design, run, and document computational experiments. Present research results at conferences and collaborative meetings. Contribute to the scientific direction of the project through regular discussions with the PI and collaborators. Functional Area 2: Scholarly Writing & Grant Development Percent Effort: 25% Prepare manuscripts, technical reports, and documentation of computational methods. Contribute to proposal development, including preliminary results, computational methodology, and broader impacts sections. Assemble supporting materials for grant submissions (figures, data summaries, model descriptions). Coordinate with the PI to maintain consistency across manuscripts, proposals, and project documentation. Support dissemination of research through conference abstracts, posters, and outreach materials. Functional Area 3: Other Duties Percent Effort: 5% Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students involved in the research group. Support research group organization, including code repository maintenance and documentation. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or related field. Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc) Intermediate skills using LaTex Basic programming experience Independent, self-motivated, and well-organized Good verbal and written communication skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Documented research record in the area of applied and computational mathematics Proficient in programming languages like C or python Ability to work with various faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students. Experience in coordinating/ managing research projects. SALARY: $4,166.67 monthly ($50,000 Annual, Approximately) Note: This is a one-year position.
