Job TitleDirector, Institutional Research Agency Texas A&M International University Department Office of the Provost & VP for Academic Affairs Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationLaredo, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Job Summary The Director of Institutional Research, under general direction, develops, manages, and coordinates Institutional Research operations. Collaborates with faculty and staff to compile, analyze, and report a wide range of institutional data, which includes institutional characteristics, enrollments, and student achievements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensures that information is collected and official reports are produced in a timely manner to maintain compliance with Federal, State, System, and University reporting requirements. Oversees the design, development, and maintenance of online databases as well as the composite information system storing archival information for retrieval to enhance reporting. Develops technologically driven enhancements for providing internal constituents with access to data and information for decision-making. Manages daily activities of the department concerning recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations. Analyzes University data and prepares reports and executive summaries. Administers the budget and oversees the fiscal operations of assigned department. Minimum Requirements Education – Master’s degree in a field emphasizing data analysis, research methods, statistics, or higher education from an accredited institution. Experience – Ten years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or D.A.) in research, statistics, data science, information systems, educational research, higher education administration, or related fields emphasizing data analysis. 5 years related experience including a minimum of 3 years working in a supervisory role or leadership role. Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools. Demonstrated experience working with Banner or or SIS systems. Demonstrated experience developing a data warehouse (Oracle platform) Demonstrated experience completing reports to state-level coordinator board. Knowledge of IPEDS, THECB reporting, SACSCOC accreditation standards, and data governance principles. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of: Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. University processes and procedures. Applied statistical methods and packages, as well as survey analyses. Ability to: Multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Effective leadership and management skills. Preferred Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of SQL, SPSS, SAS, R, or Python for statistical analysis. Licensing / Professional Certification – None Physical Requirements – None.
