Job Description Purpose: The Communications Specialist IV, under limited supervision, plays a key role in the strategic planning, development, and execution of high-level communications initiatives. This position involves advanced writing, editing, designing, and overseeing the production of a wide range of communications materials. Responsibilities: Research, write, and edit feature stories, news articles, and profiles highlighting faculty achievements, student success, research initiatives, and departmental impact. Promote departmental special events and programs. Manage the department’s social media presence. Coordinate the production of print material and electronic communications to support the goals of the department through collaboration with Engineering Communications. Serve as a communications consultant for faculty, staff, and departmental leadership by recommending effective communication strategies and coordinating appropriate resources. Utilize a project management tracking system for all project requests. Manage and maintain the department website, including content updates, navigation improvements, accessibility compliance, and coordination with Engineering Communications and web support teams. Provide front-facing customer support on communications-related needs and collaborate with support teams in Engineering Communications to fulfill those requests. Develop and execute strategic communications plans that support departmental priorities, student recruitment, faculty recognition, research visibility, rankings initiatives, and stakeholder engagement. Coordinate the creation of visual enhancements to our buildings. Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously, prioritizing requests and coordinating timelines with internal stakeholders and Engineering Communications. Provide metrics on the results of the department’s communications initiatives. Take photos and videos at department events, research labs and elsewhere as needed. Other duties as assigned. What we need: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of related experience Work Location: Main Campus – College Station, TX.
