Job Summary
Poke Clerks work in the food service area of the store. They serve customers who purchase poke and other food products in the poke department, weigh and price customer purchases, and accept payment for customer purchases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet customers and provide friendly, efficient service at the poke counter
- Assist customers with product selection, answer questions about poke varieties, ingredients, and preparation
- Weigh and price customer purchases accurately using scales and pricing systems.
- Accept payment for customer purchases and operate cash register or point-of-sale system as needed
- Package and label poke products according to company standards and food safety regulations
Food Preparation & Production
- Prepare fresh poke and related food products following company recipes and portion controls.
- Maintain knowledge and competency of all poke recipes and ingredient requirements
- Stock and rotate poke products, ingredients, and supplies to ensure freshness and availability
- Monitor product quality and shelf life; remove expired or substandard items per food safety standards
Sanitation & Safety
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, including poke bar, prep stations, counters, and equipment
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA regulations; adhere to proper handwashing and glove-use protocols
- Clean and sanitize cutting boards, knives, utensils, scales, and display cases throughout shift
- Complete daily cleaning checklist and side-work assignments as directed
Additional Duties
- Assist with inventory counts and notify supervisor when supplies are low
- Perform other duties as assigned to support food service department operations
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior experience in food service, retail grocery, or deli/counter service preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling of raw and prepared foods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong customer service skills with professional, friendly demeanor
- Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and handling cash
- Ability to stand for extended periods; lift up to 25–50 lbs; work in a refrigerated environment
- Hawaii Food Handler’s Certificate (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
Work Schedule
- Shifts: closing shifts; holidays as needed

- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting
- Repetitive hand and arm movements for cutting, mixing, and packaging
- Work in cold/refrigerated environment for extended periods
