What You’ll Do
As a CNC Lathe Setup Technician, you’ll be responsible for advanced setups, precision machining, and ensuring quality throughout production. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Performing advanced setups and operating CNC lathes (Haas & DMG Mori)
- Reading and interpreting complex blueprints, drawings, and prototype sketches
- Machining parts to tight tolerances using various materials (plastics, aluminum, etc.)
- Conducting in-process inspections and verifying parts meet all specifications
- Managing tool changes, recognizing wear, and performing sharpening as needed
- Collaborating with leads to troubleshoot equipment and product issues
- Documenting work accurately and maintaining a clean, organized workstation
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of CNC lathe setup experience required
- Experience with:
- DMG Mori Mill Turn/Mori Seiki 3-axis lathes with Fanuc controls
- Haas 2- & 3-axis lathes with Haas controls
- Experience sharpening tools and working with plastics and aluminum is a plus
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and GD&T
- Strong machine math skills
- Accurate use of precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and complete documentation
- High attention to detail and a team-oriented mindset
- Fluent in English (reading and writing) for traveler instructions and documentation
