Description


Under the general direction of the Guest Experience Manager, the Lost and Found Property Control Coordinator is responsible for the efficient handling, cataloging, and return of lost items to their rightful owners at the Authority. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate with various airport departments and utilize technology for tracking lost items. The Coordinator also provides exceptional customer service, ensuring that passengers are kept informed throughout the retrieval process while maintaining compliance with airport and airline policies regarding lost and found operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION: $23.49 - $25.76 Based on Experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receives, documents, and categorizes lost items promptly, ensuring accurate records are maintained for each item that enters the lost and found department.

  • Utilizes database systems to track and log lost items, maintaining an organized inventory that allows for efficient retrieval and matching with reported lost items.
  • Liaises with airport staff, security, airlines, and passengers to facilitate the return of lost items.
  • Provides exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and keeping individuals informed throughout the retrieval process.
  • Generates reports detailing the status of lost items, trends in lost property, and any improvements needed in the lost and found process.
  • Ensures compliance with airport and airline policies regarding the handling, storage, and disposal of lost items.
  • Follows established procedures for the safekeeping and eventual disposal of unclaimed items.
  • Works closely with airport authorities, security personnel, and relevant departments to enhance the efficiency of lost and found operations.
  • Identifies areas for process enhancement, suggest improvements, and implement best practices to streamline the lost and found procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Standard Procedures, Rules and Regulations, and Operating Directives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Two (2) years experience in customer service and/ or inventory management.

  • Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and rules governing the Lost and Found area to ensure compliance and effective operations.
  • Knowledge of data management techniques and inventory control, enabling accurate tracking and cataloging of lost items.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.
  • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.

  • Standing, walking & sitting up to 6 hours per day

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 Ibs

  • Pushing, pulling and/or dragging, bending, stooping & reaching overhead

  • Continuous typing
