Job Title: Facility Technician

Department: Facility
Reports to: Facility Director
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
Location: Tampa, FL (on-site only; this position may not telework)

Schedule & Compensation

· Hourly wage: 25.00 to 26.44 per hour, equivalent to 52,000 to 55,000 annually based on experience

· Full-time, on-site position with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

· Standard schedule set by the department, with adjustments for museum operations and events

· Includes job-related training and development opportunities

Position Summary

Oversees day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Tampa Bay History Center’s facilities to ensure building conditions are safe, functional, and well maintained for staff and visitors. Supports a clean, orderly, and secure environment by carrying out maintenance tasks, coordinating vendors, and following established safety and service plans. This position works on-site only.

Key Responsibilities

· Facility Operations, Maintenance, and Repairs

· Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs across basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC support tasks, carpentry, painting, and finishes

· Follow preventive maintenance programs, processes, and practices and recommend improvements to quality and effectiveness

· Document work performed and maintain organized records of tasks and materials used

Vendor Oversight and Coordination

· Guide and coordinate the work of vendors and contractors engaged in facilities, machinery, and equipment maintenance

· Supervise vendors involved in moving or reconfiguring furniture and equipment and general upkeep tasks

· Ensure vendor work meets museum standards for safety, quality, and schedule

Compliance, Safety, and Security

· Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and City/County and museum rules, standards, and guidelines

· Follow safety and service plans to reduce risk and protect employees and visitors

· Work with security personnel to implement and maintain security policies and procedures; analyze, investigate, and document security exposures and recommend solutions

· Serve as a museum representative with police, fire, building, and health inspectors and other authorities as needed

Communication and Other Duties

· Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support daily operations and special projects

· Use basic computer applications to communicate and track work

· Perform other duties as assigned based on museum needs; this role is on-site only and may not telework

QualificationsRequired

· High school diploma or equivalent

· 3 to 5 years of facility maintenance experience, including building maintenance, security, construction, and operations

· Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, voice/data communications, and building maintenance systems

· Demonstrated organizational skills and purchasing knowledge

· Knowledge of OSHA, fire/safety laws, and environmental rules and regulations

· Working knowledge of security systems

· Basic computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

· Ability to work collaboratively, plan and prioritize workload, and meet deadlines

· Valid Florida driver’s license

Preferred

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

· Familiarity with network infrastructure, telecommunications, and cabling design

· Working knowledge of insurance, legal, HR, construction, security, and office furniture terminology

· Bilingual skills; First Aid/CPR or other relevant certifications a plus
