Prep/Line Cook

Tamarind is a quick service, modern Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Salt Lake. We are looking to hire motivated Prep and Line Cook to join our team! We have a great work culture and fun work environment.HOURLY PAYSTARTING AT $15-$17 per hour (depending on experience) plus TIPS!! We strongly believe that every member of the team deserves a share of the tip pool. Make up to an additional $3 per hour with tips! Occasional bonuses throughout the year and end of year bonus based on performance and attendance.Job Type: Looking for Part-time (day, evening and weekend shifts available)Experience: 2 years previous cooking experience is preferred but we will train anyone who's interested in learning the ins and outs of preparing Asian cuisine.****************MUST BE ABLE TO WORK NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS!!!!*****************SKILLS:Must know and follow sanitation procedures.Ability to learn and follow the restaurant guidelines and operation procedures.Knowledge in operating kitchen equipment.Being a team member and works well in a team environment.Showcases great communication and organizational skills.Must be able to multitask and move with efficiency.Good knife skills.Able to move safely and with urgency in close proximity to others.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, and exert a well-paced mobility for periods up to 10 hours in length.Utah Food Handler’s permit required.RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintaining a sanitized and well-organized kitchen.Preparing workstations for service.Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment.Maintain the quality of the products.Preparing cooking ingredients using various techniques.Arranging food and ensuring appealing presentation.Manage food storage, stock, and practice FIFO.Prep and set up of menu item ingredients to Tamarind’s recipes, plate presentations and specifications.Stocking and restocking of line as business dictates.Ability to work on several different orders simultaneously.Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.Complete assigned opening, ongoing, and closing side work.Works with a sense of urgency. Monitors ticket times and works with team members to ensure food preparation activities are executed in a timely fashion.
