Under the direction and Vehicle Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician I operates and inspects automotive, snow grooming, and mechanical equipment to diagnose defects, analyze malfunctions, and perform overhaul, servicing, maintenance and repair work as required.  The Mechanic I is responsible for the mechanical care and well-being of Resort vehicles and equipment. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Servicing and minor maintenance of all vehicles and equipment at resort.
  • Oils, greases, and lubrication devices, and other tools and materials used in servicing equipment.
  • The methods and materials used in cleaning and washing automotive equipment.

Ability To:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds (overhead) in weight.
  • Learn principles and practices of heavy equipment, automotive and small engine maintenance and repairs.
  • Learn proper safety techniques.
  • Lubricate a wide variety of mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain time, mileage and servicing records.
  • Read manufacturer's lubrication charts.
  • Identify parts and supplies.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Learn the use of welding (gas and wire) procedures.
  • Maintain servicing records.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training as a mechanic preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current driver license with a driving history that meets the minimum standards required by the Resorts insurance carrier.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally very loud.
