Description
Under the supervision of a Radiologist and Radiologic Technologist, this Limited X-Ray Machine Operator performs standard radiography exams within the scope of license and assists with radiologic and ancillary procedures. Responsibilities include patient care, screening, transport, and clerical tasks, while ensuring safety in MRI environments. The position requires critical thinking, adherence to confidentiality, and accountability for professional standards. Flexibility to work in other units and perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Duties:
- Accepts and performs patient care duties as assigned by Radiologist and/or Licensed Radiologic Technologist within the scope of practice of GXMO.
- Performs standard diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures within the scope of the LXMO
- Performs clerical duties, which may include but is not limited to, patient reception, scheduling and screening. Data entry, filing answering telephones taking and delivering messages.
- Transports patients safely to and from Radiology and other work areas. Utilizing appropriate mode of transportation for each patient and using assistive devices as necessary such as gait belt, smooth mover, hover jack and Hoyer lift.
- Screens MRI patients and ensures patients and other safety in the MRI environment.
- Respects patients’ rights to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Maintains established hospital and work area policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, guest relations, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Communicates appropriately with interdisciplinary team and other customers
- Consistently practices the behaviors of The Caring Model and Coworker Commitment.
- Enhances work performance by participating in in-services, staff meetings, community outreach and committees as required.
- Assists in inventory, care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies
Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma. Currently enrolled and in the last year of an accredited radiography educational program or have graduated from an accredited radiology program and are within 12 months of their graduation. OR has completed a LXMO didactic educational program.
- Licensure: Licensed by the State of WI in the category of Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO)
- Experience: Healthcare related work, previous experience in Medical Imaging preferred.
- Skills: Ability to concentrate for long periods, work independently and exercise good judgment, keyboarding and basic computer skills. Requires excellent interpersonal skills. Obtains and maintains successful completion of BLS Healthcare Provider Course.
- Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills in dealing with public, outside regulatory agencies, employees, peers, and physicians.
