What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director | Rehab position at Tamarack Health, Hayward Medical Center?
The Rehabilitation Director will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operations of the Rehabilitation Department, which includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and athletic training in the hospital in-patient, outpatient and long-term care settings. In this role the director will assist in formulating budget, evaluating department performance versus budget and take appropriate action to achieve financial targets. This leader will maintain efficient and effective department operations while promoting innovation through program development.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Maintains a knowledge of current codes, regulations, and reimbursement mechanisms impacting on the services provide by the department.
- Maintains compliance with standards of all accrediting and licensing agencies.
- Recommends appropriate services and/or processes to ensure services are consistent with the needs of patients and other customers.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with members of the medical staff and other external customers.
- Knowledgeable of all rehabilitation services modalities.
- Develops and maintains a departmental organization which defines the services to be delivered, areas of responsibility for personnel and reporting relationships.
- Develops a master staffing plan, which defines the types of jobs and numbers and mix of staff positions to effectively cover the hours of service to be delivered.
- Develops policies, procedures, methods and processes for the delivery of services which meet the established standards of performance for the various areas of responsibility.
- In cooperation with the Human Resources Department, maintains up-to-date written job descriptions for all levels of personnel within the department.
- Working with the Human Resources Department participates in the interviewing of job applicants, and assessment of applicant’s competency and makes the selection decision for all positions in the department.
- Monitors productive and non-productive hours to ensure they remain at planned levels. Matches staff to workload and makes recommendations for changes and receives approval before implementation.
- Maintains operating expenses as dictated by budgeting and workload requirements.
- Develops and pursues goals and objectives consistent with TH’s mission and vision statements.
- Recommends capital equipment and operating budgets for the department which will lead to the accomplishment of the established goals and objectives.
- Confers with and coordinates plans with other staff and physicians whose areas are impacted by departmental decisions.
Education/Experience:
- Required current Wisconsin license as a RPT, OTR and/or Speech Therapist.
- Must have a minimum of five years’ experience as a therapist in a hospital setting and a minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
