What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver | Care Center | PRN position at Tamarack Health Hayward Medical Center?
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Safely operate a facility-owned bus or van in accordance with traffic laws and organizational policies.
- Assist residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices.
- Transport residents to scheduled appointments, outings, and events in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle at all times.
- Monitor and support the comfort and safety of residents during transit.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs and resident attendance records.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, families, and other departments regarding resident transportation needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service with empathy and respect for elderly and disabled individuals.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience transporting seniors or working in a healthcare or long-term care environment is a plus.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, reliability, and a caring attitude toward elderly residents.
- Ability to safely operate wheelchair lifts and securement systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policy
- Maintain professionalism
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
- Weight to be lifted or forced up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand, sit, kneel, crouch, reach, and pull.
