Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register efficiently, handling retail sales transactions with accuracy and speed using POS (Point of Sale) systems.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries.
• Manage cash drawer handling and cash handling procedures, ensuring all transactions are balanced at the end of each shift.
• Stock shelves, maintain cleanliness of the store area, and ensure products are properly merchandised to attract customers.
• Conduct product demos when applicable to promote new or featured items, upselling where appropriate to enhance sales.
• Assist in inventory management by stocking supplies, monitoring product levels, and notifying supervisors of low stock or discrepancies.
• Maintain professional phone etiquette when taking orders or answering customer inquiries over the phone.
• Support merchandising efforts by organizing displays and ensuring retail store product knowledge is up-to-date for optimal customer assistance.
• Engage in retail math tasks such as calculating totals, discounts, and change accurately during transactions.
• Promote safety protocols and ensure compliance with store policies during daily operations.

Qualifications

• Previous cashiering experience or familiarity with POS systems is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse customers and team members.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve our diverse community.
• Demonstrated cashiering skills including cash register operations, retail sales transactions, and cash drawer handling.
• Basic math skills necessary for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
• Customer service experience that highlights patience, friendliness, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Supervising experience is advantageous for those interested in growth opportunities within the team.
• Knowledge of retail store product knowledge and merchandising principles is beneficial.
