The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will play a critical role in strengthening and modernizing the company’s accounting and finance function. This individual will be responsible not only for overseeing core accounting operations and financial reporting across a complex, asset-intensive manufacturing and logistics environment, but also for helping elevate the organization’s analytical capabilities, operational visibility, and financial infrastructure as the business continues to scale. The role offers significant leadership responsibility, exposure to executive decision-making, and the opportunity to help professionalize and streamline the finance organization in a growing, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The Controller will oversee the accounting and financial planning function and provide leadership across all core financial activities, including but not limited to:
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting
- Maintain and enforce U.S. GAAP-compliant accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Oversee general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management activities across a multi-location manufacturing and distribution operation
- Manage and develop an accounting team of approximately 12–15 direct reports across multiple functional groups, including AR/credit, AP, and fixed assets
- Oversee accounting for a large fixed asset base, including plant equipment, material handling infrastructure, and a substantial fleet of delivery vehicles and transportation assets
- Prepare and review financial statements, detailed variance analyses, and management reporting packages for executive leadership
- Partner closely with finance leadership and operational stakeholders to translate operational KPIs and plant-level metrics into meaningful financial insights
- Support the continued buildout of FP&A capabilities, including improved reporting, forecasting, and financial visibility across business units and locations
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and organizational enhancements to streamline accounting workflows and improve overall efficiency
- Lead the development and implementation of scalable systems, processes, and controls to support continued growth and operational complexity
- Play a key role in ongoing ERP modernization efforts and system enhancements across the finance function
- Support acquisition activity, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition accounting and operational alignment
- Partner with executive leadership to strengthen the connection between finance and operations, helping provide actionable insights to support better business decision-making
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- CPA licensure is preferred
- 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally within manufacturing, industrial, logistics, or asset-heavy environments
- Strong background in technical accounting, financial reporting, and GAAP compliance
- Prior experience managing and developing larger accounting teams across multiple functional areas
- Experience with fixed asset accounting and capital-intensive operations, including fleet, equipment, and plant infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, implement operational efficiencies, and help modernize accounting organizations in growing companies
- Experience partnering with operational leaders and translating operational metrics into financial insights
- Exposure to ERP implementations or major system upgrades is strongly preferred
- Ability to operate hands-on while also contributing strategically to the continued evolution of the finance function
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership, operations teams, and cross-functional stakeholders in a dynamic environment
