Job Title: Systems Network Administrator

Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Systems Network Administrator to join their team. This permanent, full-time position requires a strong focus on securely designing, configuring, installing, and supporting hardware, software, and related applications to facilitate organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Ownership: Develop and oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, coordinating resources to achieve IT objectives. Execute project plans, manage risks, and communicate with stakeholders to support IT initiatives.
- Technical Support: Serve as the primary liaison with third-party providers for product enhancements, issue resolution, and Tier 2 technical support.
- System Configuration: Configure, manage, and integrate servers, network infrastructure, and applications securely, ensuring optimal system performance and resilience.
- IT Asset Management: Oversee the lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
- Identity Management: Implement and manage identity and access management systems, ensuring secure authentication through role and permission configurations.
- Communication: Effectively communicate complex technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Maintain thorough documentation of system procedures and best practices.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of formal education.
Required Skills:
- Linux: Strong experience managing Linux server and workstation environments with a focus on compliance and consistency.
- Networking: Solid foundation in networking (switching/routing), with experience in managing OpenVPN, site-to-site VPNs, and configuration. Familiarity with FortiGate, Meraki, Netgate, and similar technologies is a plus.
- Windows: General administration skills in a hybrid environment, including knowledge of AD/Entra/SharePoint/M365.
- Support: Ability to handle escalated support issues and contribute to special projects.

Role Breakdown:
- 40% Network Administration: Serve as the network engineer/admin for operational networks (e.g., high-altitude balloons), managing firewall profiles and VPN devices, and collaborating with teams to design and develop networks.
- 40% Systems Engineering: Own the configuration and management of Linux workstations and servers, streamlining their use in a primarily Windows-based environment.
- 20% Special Projects: Engage in special projects and contribute to areas of personal interest or expertise.
