Reports To: Manager, External Affairs - Tamarack Project

Main Purpose

The Advisor, Communications and Engagement - Tamarack Project supports site-level communications, community engagement, internal engagement, events, and External Affairs activities for the Tamarack project. This role helps build awareness, trust, and understanding by supporting clear communications, organized engagement activities, and consistent follow-through with employees, community members, stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams.

Working under the direction of the Manager, External Affairs - Tamarack Project, this role supports internal and external communications, community forums, tours, donations and sponsorships, event planning, social investments, digital platforms, website content, brand continuity, vendor coordination, and day-to-day engagement needs. The Advisor helps ensure Tamarack’s communications and engagement activities are organized, professional, responsive, and aligned with Talon’s values, brand, and business objectives.

Main Responsibilities/Activities

Communications and Content Support

  • Support internal and external communications for Tamarack, including employee updates, community updates, newsletters, presentations, flyers, website content, social media content, event materials, and stakeholder-facing communications.
  • Draft, edit, and coordinate communications materials that are clear, accurate, and appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Assist with content planning and execution for Tamarack-related communications across internal, external, and digital platforms.
  • Support social media content development for Tamarack in coordination with the broader communications team.
  • Assist with photography, videography, graphics, and other content needs for employee, community, and project-related communications.
  • Ensure communications materials are aligned with Talon’s brand, tone, values, and approved messaging.

Community Engagement and Stakeholder Support

  • Support community engagement activities related to Tamarack, including forums, open houses, tours, meetings, educational programs, and local events.
  • Assist with planning, logistics, materials, invitations, registration, follow-up, and day-of support for community engagement activities.
  • Represent Tamarack at select community events, meetings, and outreach activities as needed.
  • Help gather community feedback, track questions or concerns, and route follow-up items to the appropriate internal team members.
  • Support grievance intake, tracking, documentation, and follow-up coordination as directed.
  • Help maintain stakeholder records, contact lists, engagement notes, community commitments, and related documentation.
  • Support social investment activities, including local partnerships, donations, sponsorships, and community programs.

Events, Tours, and Forums

  • Coordinate logistics for Tamarack tours, community forums, open houses, stakeholder meetings, employee events, and other engagement activities.
  • Support event planning, including venue coordination, catering, materials, signage, registration, invitations, presentations, and follow-up communications.
  • Assist with public-facing events that help explain Tamarack’s activities, project status, permitting process, environmental work, and community commitments.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure event materials and presentations are accurate, accessible, and aligned with approved messaging.
  • Track attendance, questions, feedback, and follow-up needs from engagement events.

Internal Communications and Employee Engagement

  • Support Tamarack internal communications, including employee updates, Beekeeper content, announcements, newsletters, digital displays, bulletin boards, and employee-facing materials.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities, recognition, events, campaigns, and internal culture-building efforts.
  • Support internal departments with communication materials, presentations, flyers, forms, and event support.
  • Help ensure Tamarack employees receive timely, consistent, and relevant information about project activities, company updates, and engagement opportunities.

Brand, Creative, and Digital Platform Support

  • Support brand continuity across Tamarack materials, including presentations, signage, event materials, social media content, advertising, flyers, and community-facing materials.
  • Assist with creative services needs, including basic design, graphics, photography, video coordination, print materials, and vendor coordination.
  • Support Tamarack website content updates, project information, community resources, event postings, and inquiry routing.
  • Help manage communications and engagement platforms, including Beekeeper, website forms, social media planning tools, contact lists, and other systems as needed.
  • Support advertising coordination, including placement, creative materials, deadlines, and vendor communication.

Administrative, Vendor, and Reporting Support

  • Coordinate vendors, purchase orders, invoices, check requests, sponsorship payments, event costs, and budget tracking related to communications and engagement activities.
  • Maintain organized files, event records, engagement documentation, donation and sponsorship records, vendor information, and reporting materials.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting related to communications, engagement, donations, sponsorships, events, and stakeholder activities.
  • Track commitments, deadlines, follow-up items, and engagement actions to support accountability and consistency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Crisis, Issues, and Special Project Support

  • Support crisis communications and issue management by helping prepare materials, track updates, coordinate communications, and support internal or external message distribution.
  • Assist with special projects related to permitting, community engagement, public meetings, stakeholder education, and External Affairs priorities.
  • Provide communications and engagement support during periods of increased public interest, project milestones, permitting activities, or community concern.
  • Work closely with the Manager, External Affairs - Tamarack and broader External Affairs team to ensure Tamarack engagement is coordinated with company-wide communications and stakeholder strategy.

Education/Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, community development, environmental studies, business, education, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, community engagement, public relations, event coordination, stakeholder engagement, marketing, external affairs, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in mining, natural resources, permitting, environmental work, infrastructure, government relations, or community-facing project work is an asset.
  • Strong writing, communication, public speaking, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience coordinating events, vendors, materials, invoices, schedules, and multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to create and coordinate basic communications materials, including written updates, flyers, graphics, presentations, photos, videos, and social media content.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms, content management systems, forms platforms, or employee communication tools preferred.
  • Ability to work professionally with employees, community members, vendors, public officials, stakeholders, and internal departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a changing environment.
