THE ROLE_
The VP for IT Operations and Security is responsible for the reliable, secure, and effective operation of Talon’s technology environment across Talon North America. The role acts as the regional IT and Security lead based in New York while working closely with Talon’s global technology, security, and engineering teams.
This role combines operational IT management, security governance delivered through managed service providers (MSPs), and coordination with Talon’s engineering teams responsible for the company’s bespoke platforms. The VP ensures that staff can operate effectively, that applications run reliably, and that Talon’s security and governance standards are maintained across the region.
Success looks like: stable and secure IT operations in North America, rapid resolution of technology issues impacting staff and platforms, strong coordination with global teams in the UK and India, and consistent adherence to Talon’s security and compliance standards aligned with recognized frameworks such as SOC 2 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. A DAY IN THE LIFE_
- IT Operations Leadership: Act as the primary IT lead for Talon North America operations, ensuring reliable workplace technology, connectivity, and infrastructure for the New York office and regional staff.
- Security & Compliance Alignment: Ensure the North American technology environment aligns with Talon’s global governance framework including identity management, device security, monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response procedures.
- MSP Governance and Vendor Management: Govern external managed service providers responsible for infrastructure support, security monitoring, endpoint management, and workplace technology services. Define service level expectations, conduct structured service reviews, monitor performance metrics, and ensure partners deliver services aligned with Talon’s global standards.
- Security Oversight: Ensure MSP-delivered security capabilities such as endpoint protection, identity security, vulnerability management, monitoring, and incident response operate effectively. Security practices must align with recognized frameworks including SOC 2 controls and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- End‑User and Network Support via MSPs: Oversee MSPs responsible for supporting Talon North America end‑user devices, workplace collaboration tools, and office network infrastructure. Ensure high-quality support for device lifecycle management, connectivity, and workplace technology.
- Incident and Service Management: Coordinate resolution of IT incidents and service requests across MSPs, internal teams, and engineering groups. Ensure incidents are prioritized correctly, escalated appropriately, and resolved efficiently.
- Bespoke Platform Support: Work closely with Talon’s engineering teams in the UK, North America, and India to triage and manage application issues affecting Talon’s proprietary platforms.
- Global Collaboration: Act as the bridge between Talon North America business teams and the global technology organization, coordinating closely with UK technology leadership and engineering teams across multiple regions.
- User Experience & Enablement: Ensure employees have reliable tools, systems, and support that allow them to operate efficiently across Talon’s platforms and collaboration systems.
- The role operates across Talon’s modern cloud‑first technology stack which includes:
- Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
- Endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Intune and Jamf
- Identity and access management including Microsoft Entra ID
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) security tooling
- Cloud infrastructure environments such as AWS
- Corporate networking and secure connectivity for global offices
- Collaboration and productivity platforms used across Talon’s global workforce
- Internal proprietary platforms that support campaign planning, trading, reporting, and analytics
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR_
- Experience: 7–10 years in IT operations, infrastructure management, or enterprise technology roles.
- Operational IT Expertise: Strong experience supporting modern enterprise environments including Microsoft 365, endpoint management platforms, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
- Security Governance: Experience overseeing security services delivered through MSPs and ensuring alignment with recognised frameworks such as SOC 2 and NIST.
- MSP and Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage external IT providers, define service expectations, conduct service reviews, and ensure vendor accountability.
- Application Support: Experience working with software engineering teams to diagnose and resolve issues in internally developed platforms or enterprise applications.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong ability to work across international teams and coordinate between business users, IT vendors, and software engineering teams.
- Problem Solving: A structured and pragmatic approach to diagnosing issues, managing incidents, and improving operational processes.
