What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Field Construction Operations (Electrical and PLC Controls) - Irving, TX position at TALNT Team?
Our client is a national building automation and controls integrator headquartered in Dallas. They deliver integrated automation across HVAC, lighting, power monitoring and mission critical systems on Allen Bradley PLCs, Ignition SCADA and Delta DDC, and their data center construction business is scaling fast.
The role
This is the senior leader of the field construction organization. You own how the controls scope gets installed, started up, commissioned and turned over on new construction projects, and you own the financial performance of that work.
You lead a national field organization of control technicians, PLC technicians, technical project managers, field operations managers and critical systems supervisors. You carry the field P&L, set the standards those crews execute to, build the bench that lets the business take on more work, and report to the VP of Operations.
This is a builder's seat, not a caretaker's seat. The company hired roughly 350 people this year and is scaling toward $1B in delivered revenue. They need a leader who has run electrical or controls installation crews on ground up construction, can read a drawing set and a submittal, can hold a technical conversation with a commissioning agent, and can manage a number.
Field construction execution
Controls and building automation integrators, electrical contractors, MEP contractors, electrical testing and commissioning firms, and critical power field service organizations. Titles like Director of Field Operations, Director of Construction, Operations Manager, General Manager, Electrical or MEP Construction Manager, and Senior Project Manager (Electrical or Controls) all fit.
What This Role Is Not
Running the day to day of live, already built facilities is a different profile. This seat is about delivering scope into buildings while they are being built.
Compensation And Benefits
Competitive base salary plus annual bonus, full medical, dental and vision, 401K with match, and all business travel covered with per diem.

- Working command of BMS, DDC and PLC platforms, electrical systems and construction turnover.
