Overview
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Kava Bar Barista to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing exceptional customer service, creating high-quality beverages, and contributing to a welcoming café environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic retail setting focused on health-conscious beverages and community engagement. Prior experience in coffee or food service is preferred, along with familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent time management, sales skills, and a strong commitment to food safety and food handling standards.
Scheduling Hours include: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday
OR: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday we close at 12AM.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of kava drinks, coffee beverages, and light food items according to established recipes and quality standards
- Operate POS system for order processing, cash handling, and sales transactions
- Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with customers, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the barista station, including food preparation areas and equipment sanitation
- Manage cash register operations accurately, including cashiering duties and retail math calculations
- Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and ensuring food safety protocols are followed
- Uphold food handling standards and adhere to health regulations related to food safety and sanitation
- Support team members during busy periods by managing multiple tasks efficiently with effective time management skills
- Contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that promotes community engagement and customer loyalty
Qualifications
- Previous barista experience or background in the food industry is highly desirable
- Familiarity with POS systems is preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with customers
- Knowledge of food safety practices, food handling, and proper sanitation procedures
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and sales transactions
- Excellent time management skills to handle fast-paced environments efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a positive attitude
- Experience in coffee preparation or serving beverages is a plus but not required
