We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our healthcare team. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting patients with selecting eyewear, conducting preliminary assessments, and supporting clinical staff in delivering comprehensive eye care. Duties
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear by understanding their prescription needs and personal preferences, ensuring optimal fit and comfort.
- Conduct basic eye assessments, including measuring vital signs relevant to ocular health and verifying patient information within electronic medical record (EMR) .
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper aseptic techniques during lens fitting and adjustments.
- Support clinical staff with ophthalmology procedures by managing medical records, coding, and billing in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage retail sales of eyewear products while maintaining accurate retail math calculations and inventory control.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace adhering to safety standards and laboratory protocols to ensure patient safety and quality care.
- Collaborate with the team to improve clinic workflows using EMR systems and optimize patient experience.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in optical services or ophthalmology/ optometry clinics is highly preferred, with knowledge of optical experience essential.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye health, and medical coding practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems platforms used for managing medical records and billing processes.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Laboratory experience related to lens fitting or optical device fabrication is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients.
Pay: $42,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
