What You’ll Do
The Traffic Safety Communications Specialist reports to the Traffic Safety Administrator and works under the direction of the State Safety Office Public Information Officer (PIO) to provide communication and coordination support for the State Safety Office on traffic safety related communications.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for:
- Assist in planning and implementing safety campaigns and events to promote public awareness and engagement.
- Collect and report on data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts.
- Develop and ensure the quality of communication materials that align with Florida’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) emphasis areas.
- Provide communication and logistical support to Florida’s traffic safety coalitions and CTST coordinators.
- Support special projects and additional tasks to advance the State Safety Office’s goals.

We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- One year of professional experience in a communications position.
- A valid Florida Driver License.
- Professional or paraprofessional experience in a safety program can substitute for a year for year experience for the degree.
- A 40-hour work week is required. 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday with some evening, weekend, and overtime exceptions at the direction of the FDOT State Safety Office Traffic Safety Administrator.
