Essential Functions:

• Responsible for shaping molds or mold sections using an air-set sand mixer
• Sets loose or mounted pattern on board or uses dedicated dump boxes
• Applies parting agent as deemed necessary
• Select and assemble appropriate flask equipment and patterns
• Position patterns in flasks, fill flasks with sand, ramming the sand around the pattern with tools, hands and use of air-set equipment
• Prepare molds for drawing of patterns and repair damage to mold impressions in sand as necessary
• Closely watches machine operation and communicates with iron pourer to ensure quality castings while reducing scrap and rework
• Rejects defective molds
• Vents molds as necessary
• Assemble cope and drag sections of mold, sets cores
• Sets drag flask, rams entire drag portion of mold
• Turns flask, removes drag pattern and set in prepared pouring area
• May cut runner bar and ingates, sets down sprue
• Sets cope flask and rams the entire cope portion of mold, strikes off cope
• Removes cope portion of mold
• May apply mold spray to cope and drag
• Sets cores, closes mold, add appropriate weights, sand parting lines
• May add pouring basin to cope portion of mold
• May apply facing sand
• Report production quantities and times for each work order
• Report worn pattern equipment to supervisors
• Perform any other general maintenance including Safety/5S duties
• Perform housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned

Skills or Experience Required:

Experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment is preferred

Other Position Demands or Requirements: Math, computer and communication skills are necessary; must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

• Lift 70 lbs. on an occasional basis
• Standing – frequent to continuous
• Walking – occasional to frequent
• Must be able to communicate with other employees
• Perform at a pace to keep up with production
• Comply with Company’s safety policy & procedures
• Abide by the established foundry working requirements (attitude, technique, efficiency, safety, attendance & housekeeping

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
