What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice Presdient of Student Affairs/Dean of Students position at Talladega College?
Position Overview:
Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Student Life (VPSL) serves as a member of the senior leadership team and supervises student life professionals in residence life, student activities, student athletics, counseling and career planning and placement. The VPSL will work closely with the President to elevate the overall student experience of the College. Through exceptional leadership and guidance to units across the College, the VPSL will promote seamless student support and a culture of engagement and belonging.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and direction for the development and administration of a wide range of academic support programs, including but not limited to, student discipline, personal counseling assistance, student development, and student services and organizations.
- Ability to work with students, faculty and staff to promote students? professional and personal development through a wide variety of programs and services while co-creating a supportive and socially conscious community.
- Will be a highly collaborative leader with the ability to develop partnerships with other units in order to materially enhance the student experience.
- Will possess an exceptional understanding of higher education and a commitment to student success.
- As a key member of the president?s senior leadership team, the VPSL will participate in strategic planning and work collaboratively with leadership across the College to support key academic and institutional priorities, initiatives and opportunities.
- Develops and manages the Student Life budgets, and directs the development and implementation of selected externally funded initiatives.
- Directs implementation and enforcement and adjudication activities related to all policies, procedures, and regulations of student conduct and student disciplinary action; ensures compliance and due process requirements.
- Directly responsible for staff training and development, and serves on faculty committees related to student life.
- Directly responsible for the Talladega College Police department and oversees and directs the direction of the department as related to campus security for students, faculty and staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the President.
