Job Title: Math/Reading Tutor

Reports to: Principal

Dates: September - December 2025

Summary 

The Math/Reading Tutor plays a pivotal role in providing academic assistance and guidance to students. The primary responsibilities of the Math/Reading Tutor include, but are not limited to, academic support in math, individualized learning, and progress monitoring.

Essential Functions: 

• Provide explanations, guidance, and clarifications to ensure comprehension of the material.
• Tailor teaching methods to suit individual student needs.
• Identify strengths and weaknesses, and follow personalized learning plans to enhance academic performance.
• Employ creative and engaging teaching methods to sustain students' interest and motivation in learning.
• Monitor and assess students' progress regularly.
• Keep records of tutoring sessions, including areas covered, progress made, and any challenges faced.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Proficiency in various subjects or a strong command of specific disciplines coupled with the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to explain complex concepts, providing constructive feedback, and engaging with students, parents, and school staff; patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for teaching; organizational skills that will aid in planning and structuring tutoring sessions while managing time efficiently and maintaining records of student progress; grasp of pedagogical techniques, educational standards, and learning styles; ability to implement varied teaching strategies to enhance student comprehension; collaboration with teachers and parents, knowledge of technology integration, and the ability to maintain a disciplined and safe environment.

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field is preferred.
