What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Audiobook Recording Monitor position at Talking Book Publishers, Inc.?

We are looking for a reliable individual who loves books and working towards a great cause to join our team in our Part-Time Audiobook Monitor position available at a local nonprofit company. This position will begin as part time, but we are also looking for people who want to grow in this company and eventually become full-time.
In this audio recording position, the "monitor" will be responsible for recording and reading along with the narrator to ensure all words are in proper order with proper pronunciation. Checking pronunciations while in production, running correction sessions on previously recorded material, and generally helping to ensure a quality performance.
We will train for this position, however, candidates must have strong English language skills as well as an "ear" for sounds and pronunciation. We will require a skill test to test this ability as part of the hiring process. Previous knowledge and use of diacriticals are highly sought after.
A successful candidate must be able to work in a quick-paced multitasking position, (this position is not just reading along, you will be multi-tasking). Also must be able to work well with others as you will be actively working with a narrator each shift.
The successful candidate will:
- -Be available to work at least 5, 4 hour shifts per week (at least 20 hours of availability), and MUST be available for Friday shifts, and possibly evenings (M-TH) once you are fully trained.
- -Be available to work a mix of the shifts we offer, AM, PM, and Evenings.
- -Possess strong English language skills. Other languages in addition to this would also be very helpful.
- Be reliable, this person is on-time for work each shift and does not have attendance issues, they understand that people are relying on them showing up and doing a great job each shift.
- -Be a Team Player, Flexible, and want to work with books, narrators and audio recordings.
- -Experience with diacritics and reading pronunciations is HIGHLY sought after.
- -Experience with Protools and Ipad Ebook readers like apple books or Kindle is also helpful, but can be trained.
This position pays $17.30 per hour.
We try to set the schedule so that it is predictable for the employee to be able to plan their other pursuits around.

This position is not available for remote work.
