What You Will Own
- Analyze structural steel drawings, blueprints, and project specifications
- Produce accurate take offs for beams, columns, trusses, joists, decking, stair systems, and miscellaneous steel
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including material, labor, equipment, shop time, and erection costs
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Detailers, and Field Teams to ensure clarity in scope
- Engage with vendors and suppliers for pricing, lead times, and material availability
- Support bid strategies, schedules, and proposal preparation
- Present pricing to leadership and participate in bid reviews
- Track awarded projects and hand off cleanly to the operations team
- Maintain strong communication with clients, GCs, and internal stakeholders
- Recommend value engineering options, cost savings, and alternatives
- Experience estimating structural steel projects in fabrication and erection
- Working knowledge of AISC standards, common connections, tonnage breakdowns, and shop processes
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
- Strong mathematical accuracy and attention to detail
- Familiarity with estimating software and take off tools
- Prior experience working in a fabrication shop or field environment is a major asset
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume bid environment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
