What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer - Medical Device position at Talentry?
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Medical Device
San Diego, CA (Onsite)
130,000-180,000 DOE
Join a growing medical-device team developing and improving a precision
electromechanical product. This is an onsite opportunity for an engineer who
enjoys solving real hardware problems—not just modeling parts at a desk—and
wants visible ownership in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
You’ll take designs and features from concept through production, balancing
new development with sustaining engineering, hands-on troubleshooting, and
early commercial-stage support. You’ll work closely with systems, electrical,
quality, regulatory, operations, and lab teams to improve product performance,
reliability, manufacturability, and testability.
What you’ll do:
· Design
and improve precision mechanical components, assemblies, and test fixtures
using SolidWorks.
· Perform
failure analysis, root-cause investigations, tolerance stack-ups, FEA, and
design-for-manufacturability assessments.
· Develop
and execute verification protocols; analyze results and produce clear technical
reports.
· Build,
test, inspect, and troubleshoot hardware in the lab using appropriate test and
inspection equipment.
· Support
design changes, prototype builds, 3D printing, and manufacturing transfer
activities.
· Contribute
to risk assessments, design reviews, and engineering documentation within a
regulated quality system.
Requirements
What you bring:
· BS
in Mechanical Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
· Approximately
5 years of product-development experience in medical devices.
· Strong
SolidWorks 3D modeling and drawing experience.
· Hands-on
experience with FEA, tolerance analysis, failure analysis, DOE/statistics, and
Minitab.
· Knowledge
of injection molding, DFM, prototyping, and precision mechanical systems.
· Microfluidics, test-fixture design, hands-on
verification testing, injection molding design – all are strong pluses.
· SolidWorks
PDM or another CAD/PDM systems
· Experience
designing test fixtures and working across mechanical, electrical, and systems
disciplines.
· A
proactive, coachable, collaborative mindset and comfort owning work end to end.
