TalentPursuit Executive Search is working with a phenomenal client in the Montgomery Alabama area seeking an experienced talented Purchasing Manager.
The Purchasing Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification,
acquisition, production, and distribution of the company's goods. The Purchasing Manager develops and
monitors a company’s supply chain strategy.
Their goal is to improve productivity and efficiency and reduce costs while securing high-quality material for their company. Purchasing Manager is a professional who oversees every stage of an organization’s supply chain, from purchasing raw materials to production.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize the supply chain process.
• Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to
establish and provide an effective supply chain.
• Establishes performance metrics and reporting for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors
affecting the supply chain.
• Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the plant.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders to maintain the required quantity of supplies and materials to
optimize production; keen ability to forecast demand and plan inventory levels.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and positively with plant operations and other departments
• Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
• Undertake major contract negotiation strategically to maximum cost savings while maintaining high standard of quality.
• Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
• Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution with minimum cost to the company.
• Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
• Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
• Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on the availability and cost of supplies and materials
• Acts as part of the team creating and coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
• Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management/Logistics or related field, is required.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in supply chain; food manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with the daily plant operations planning process and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and production planning.
• Must be computer-literate with knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Professional software.
• Working knowledge of purchasing software a plus.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills; strong verbal, listening and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and to delegate when appropriate.
• Thorough knowledge of procurement laws and regulations.
• Ability to develop and execute supply chain strategies that drive business results and foster a culture of
continuous improvement.
