What is in it for you?
As a Product Owner you'll lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of an enterprise medical record repository that serves as a centralized source of clinical records across the organization. The role requires strong healthcare, EHR/EMR, interoperability, clinical data, and product management expertise to support HEDIS, risk adjustment, payment integrity, and care management initiatives.
Duties:
- Own the vision, roadmap, and product strategy for the enterprise medical record repository.
- Define requirements for ingestion, normalization, matching, de-duplication, and storage of medical records.
- Partner with clinical, quality, risk adjustment, payment integrity, compliance, and engineering teams.
- Translate EHR/EMR workflows and healthcare standards into product requirements.
- Prioritize backlog and manage epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Define repository data models and access patterns.
- Support onboarding of EHRs, HIEs, payer/provider feeds, and retrieval vendors.
- Monitor KPIs including record completeness, retrieval turnaround time, and match rates.
- Participate in vendor evaluations for medical record retrieval and clinical data platforms.
- Ensure compliance with interoperability, CMS, NCQA, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Support data governance, consent management, and clinical data quality initiatives.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in clinical, health informatics, nursing, or related field; advanced degree or clinical license (RN, health informatics certification) strongly preferred.
- 7 years of experience in healthcare, with direct exposure to EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and clinical documentation workflows.
- 3 years working as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role delivering data or platform capabilities in an agile environment.
- Working knowledge of clinical data standards: HL7 v2 (ADT), FHIR R4, C-CDA/CCD.
- Familiarity with HEDIS measurement, NCQA digital quality measures (dQM), and/or risk adjustment (HCC) data and documentation requirements.
- Understanding of payment integrity use cases and how medical records support claims validation and audit workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to translate clinical and regulatory requirements into technical product specifications for engineering teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging clinical leaders, compliance, legal, and technology teams simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
Desired:
- RN, Health Informatics certification, or other clinical credentials.
- Experience with CMS interoperability regulations.
- Knowledge of Da Vinci implementation guides (PDex, CRD, DTR, PAS).
- Experience with medical record retrieval or chart abstraction vendors.
- Experience with FHIR repositories and clinical data platforms.
- Health Plan, ACO, or risk-bearing provider experience.
- CSPO or Agile Product Owner certification.
- Experience with enterprise healthcare data governance and interoperability programs.
