Apply to Talentnook today! You'll be part of our core instructional team piloting our reading intervention program at one of the school districts in California. This pilot ends in the end of May/1st week of June. The program may continue into summer/fall, yet to be decided.
Required Qualifications:
- B.A./B.S. or higher (Education related preferred)
- Working knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction for K-5 (ideally a background in structured literacy and Science of Reading like Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, SIPPS)
- Advanced proficiency in online teaching and using online tools with no training required
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students of all ages
- Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences
- Be able to clear background checks
- Have a stable internet connection and computer with a dedicated and quiet space to conduct online classes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Experience in classroom teaching, tutoring, or related educational roles
- Knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning
- Familiarity with educational resources & tools like Seesaw, Heggerty
- Flexibility to work with students from diverse backgrounds such as ESL/ELL
- Experience working with neurodiverse learners or those with learning disabilities
- Online teaching set up at your home with 2 screens
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide small-group academic remediation
- Coordinate with in-person classroom aide and program administration staff
- Be able to show literacy growth in the assigned students
- Demonstrate strong working relationships with students, parents, and school staff
- Demonstrate strong professionalism
Availability:
- Able to work in PST timezone
- After-school hours between 2PM-6PM on Mon-Fri.
- Approx 4 hours/day, 20 hours per week
- You should be available on all days Mon-Fri
- Available to start ASAP
Technology Requirements for remote teaching:
- High speed internet
- Stable, working laptop or PC
- 2 screens (1 of 2 can be the laptop screen)
- Quiet and dedicated workspace setup
