About Company / Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Veterinary Medical Director to lead and oversee the medical operations of our veterinary practice. This leadership role involves ensuring the highest standard of patient care, mentoring veterinarians, and providing strategic direction for the clinic's medical policies. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience combined with excellent leadership and communication skills, ensuring that both the medical team and support staff are aligned with the practice’s mission of delivering compassionate and quality veterinary care.
Responsibilities:
- Medical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of the highest standard of veterinary care across all medical services including surgery, diagnostics, and treatment protocols.
- Team Development: Mentor and support the veterinary team, providing clinical guidance and encouraging continuous professional growth through training and education.
- Patient Care Management: Oversee complex cases and support veterinarians in making sound medical decisions. Consult on cases requiring advanced medical judgment.
- Collaboration & Communication: Foster collaboration between the veterinary and support teams to ensure smooth operations and cohesive patient care. Communicate medical protocols to staff and clients.
- Clinical Standards: Develop and implement medical protocols, quality assurance procedures, and clinical standards to ensure consistent care delivery.
- Client Relations: Act as a medical expert to clients, communicating complex medical information and treatment plans in an accessible manner.
- Operational Oversight: Work closely with practice management on clinic operations, including staffing, equipment procurement, and facility upgrades to support medical excellence.
- Compliance: Ensure the clinic’s adherence to industry regulations and standards, including veterinary licensing, controlled substances management, and OSHA standards.
- Strategic Direction: Contribute to the clinic’s overall strategy by identifying growth opportunities, new service offerings, and innovative medical technologies.
Must-Have Skills:
- Active veterinary license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a practicing veterinarian.
- Previous leadership or management experience in a veterinary practice is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, surgery, and diagnostics.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with staff, clients, and management.
