Education & Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
- Previous postpartum, mother-baby, or women's health nursing experience (Preferred)
- Current RN license in state of practice (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (Preferred or Required based on facility requirements)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (Preferred or Required based on facility requirements)
- Performs assessments and monitors postpartum mothers and newborns for changes in condition.
- Provides routine postpartum and newborn care, including vital signs, medications, and treatments.
- Assists with breastfeeding, newborn care, and patient education.
- Recognizes and responds to maternal or newborn complications and escalates care as needed.
- Provides discharge education regarding postpartum recovery, medications, newborn care, and follow-up.
- Documents assessments, interventions, and patient response in the medical record.
