What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Talented.co?
We're looking for an ambitious Business Development Representative to join Talented.co and work directly with our founder to build and scale our sales channels from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a few years of sales experience who's hungry to accelerate their career growth and make a real impact on a growing company. You'll start being 100% hands on, but will grow with us and the sky is the limit. VP Sales in a couple years??
This isn't just another sales job. You'll be instrumental in shaping our go-to-market strategy, experimenting with different approaches, and building processes that will scale with the company. If you're excited about rolling up your sleeves, trying new things, and having a direct line to leadership, this role is for you.
- Build sales channels from scratch – experiment with different outreach strategies and help establish what works best for our market
- Generate new business through a mix of cold calling, door-to-door visits, and strategic outreach
- Own the full sales cycle – from prospecting and booking appointments to conducting client meetings and closing deals
- Represent Talented.co at trade shows – network, generate leads, and build brand awareness
- Work directly with the founder – contribute ideas, get immediate feedback, and influence company strategy
- Create and refine sales processes – what you build today will become the playbook for future team members
- Track and optimize performance – use data to continuously improve your approach and share insights with leadership
- 2-4 years of sales experience with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets
- Growth mindset – you see challenges as opportunities and are excited about building something new
- Comfortable with rejection – whether it's cold calls or door knocking, you bounce back quickly
- Self-starter mentality – you don't need constant direction and can figure things out independently
- Strong communication skills – you can adapt your style whether you're cold calling, meeting in person, or working a trade show booth
- Entrepreneurial spirit – you want to be part of building something, not just executing someone else's playbook
- High energy and persistence – you bring enthusiasm to your work and don't give up easily
- Organized and detail-oriented – you can juggle multiple prospects and maintain accurate records
- Massive growth potential – this role is what you make it, with clear paths to senior sales roles or sales leadership
- Direct access to the founder – skip the corporate layers and work side-by-side with decision makers
- Shape the future – your successes and learnings will directly influence company strategy
- Variety in your day – from cold calls to trade shows to client meetings, no two days are the same
- Real ownership – you're not just following a script; you're writing it
You're someone who's proven you can sell but knows you're capable of so much more. Maybe you're tired of rigid corporate structures or outdated sales processes. You want to be somewhere your ideas matter, where you can try new approaches, and where your success directly translates to career growth. You're equally comfortable making 100 cold calls or walking into businesses unannounced because you're confident in your ability to create value for prospects.
