Our client, a boutique CPA firm in Mount Kisco, NY with a close-knit team of approximately 12 professionals serving closely held businesses, their owners, and high-net-worth individuals is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to take a key role in their tax practice. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys hands-on client work, a broad variety of responsibilities, and the opportunity to grow into a manager-level role.  The Senior Tax Associate will be responsible for managing and reviewing tax engagements, performing advanced tax work, and serving as a day-to-day contact for many of our clients.


Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for:
– Individuals
– Partnerships and LLCs
– S corporations and C corporations
– Trusts and estates (as applicable)

• Perform and document tax research on complex issues; prepare clear and concise written summaries and recommendations for partners and clients.
• Assist in tax planning and advisory projects, including:
– Entity selection and restructuring
– Owner compensation and distribution planning
– Multi-state and allocation issues
– Year-end and transactional planning
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently, including:
– Coordinating information requests with clients
– Monitoring budgets and timelines
– Ensuring engagements are completed accurately and on schedule
• Review workpapers and returns prepared by staff, providing clear review notes, coaching, and feedback to support their development.
• Communicate directly with clients by phone and email to resolve questions, obtain information, and explain tax positions and planning opportunities in understandable terms.
• Assist with responding to federal, state, and local tax notices and inquiries.
• Participate in internal initiatives, including staff training, process improvement, and implementation of best practices and firm procedures.
• Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and regulations and proactively identify their impact on clients.


Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; master’s degree in taxation is preferred but not required.
• Active CPA license, CPA eligibility, or EA credential strongly preferred.
• Approximately 3 to 5 years of recent, progressive public accounting experience in tax.
• Solid technical knowledge of individual, partnership, and S corporation taxation; exposure to C corporations, trusts, and estates is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing returns and supervising or mentoring junior staff is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with tax compliance and research software, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy seasons.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills and a client-service mindset.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to quality.

The compensation for this position ranges from $100,000.00 - $140,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
