The Position
As a Sheet Metal Finisher/Polisher, you will be responsible for grinding, finishing, blending, and polishing light-gauge (14-18 gauge) stainless steel components to meet quality standards and customer specifications. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to read engineering drawings, and experience using a variety of hand and power tools (e.g. angle grinders, polishing wheels, etc.) You will play a key role in ensuring finished products meet appearance, functionality, and quality expectations while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Grind, blend, polish, and finish stainless steel surfaces to meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Operate high-speed grinders, cut-off wheels, polishing wheels, hammers, and handheld finishing tools safely and effectively.
- Inspect finished parts for scratches, dents, weld marks, and other surface imperfections.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and diagrams to ensure accurate workmanship.
- Measure and identify materials to ensure compliance with production requirements.
- Visually examine products for defects and verify the acceptability of finished surfaces.
Qualifications and Candidate Background
The ideal candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in polishing and metal finishing in a manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, or related industrial environment preferred.
- Experience working with grinders, polishing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
