JOB DESCRIPTION RN - Pediatric CVICU About Facility: 247 Licensed Beds Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Certified Stroke Center Congenital Cardiology ranked #7 by USNWR Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit Unit Information: Beds: 20 Unit broken into two sides that mirror one another with 10 beds on each side. Nurses station is centralized in the middle, with the most critical patients being placed behind the nurses station Required Experience: 2 years Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar facility for acuity Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Very high acuity patient population ages 0-18 years old Patients with congenital heart differences that have undergone surgery, medical management of pre-transplant and post-transplant, s/p cath lab, ventricular assistive devices, ECMO, Impella, Dialysis, Aquadex (Renal Replacement Therapy) Patient Ratios: RN: Varies on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2 CNA: none - 1 NA per day to support unit secretary duties and nursing support needs throughout the shift Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, PALS, NIHSS Skills required: Experience with fresh open heart post op patients; transplant experience, experience with the following devices: Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, ECMO EPIC experience Ability/Competency to float to PICU discussed during interview Support within the Department: 1 Health Care tech per day to support unit secretary duties and nursing support needs throughout the shift (runners, bathing, etc.) Unit Secretary every shift Charge nurse free floating Phlebotomy in house but not utilized as majority of patients will have central lines IV/VAT Team? Yes Resource Nurse free floating RT, 24/7 Cardiologist, 24/7 Intensivist, 24/7 Telemetry monitoring Tech? No Centralized and bedside monitoring Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC - required IV Pump: Alaris Med dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Phillips Floating: Yes - PICU, NICU, Gen Peds will float as needed Orientation (facility and unit): NEO 2 days departmental Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other weekend or fewer as needed Fri/Sat/Sun Call requirement: Yes, based on previous date Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays, Unit requirement is every other holiday RTO: Manager approval Shift times: 0645 1845, 1845 - 0645 Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Other notes: Scrub Color: Navy Parking: Free?
