Responsibilities
This Supplier Quality Engineering position will have responsibility for oversight and improvement of a selected sub-set of Opco's component and sub-assembly suppliers. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and facilitate the resolution of problems involving the integration of suppliers' products and services into Opco's manufacturing processes
- Investigate and analyze technical issues relating to quality, tooling and supplier manufacturing
- Provide technical consultation to internal and external suppliers for the selection of manufacturing processes
- Review validation reports and/or first article submissions for new supplied components
- Determine supplier performance targets and review supplier on-going manufacturing performance against set targets
- Assist in coordinating across technical disciplines within the organization, suppliers, joint venture partners and/or OEM partners
- Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Develop and track project and action plans
- Monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to Supplier Quality Engineering (i.e. metrics, data entry, log parts)
- [Potential] Domestic travel to supplier sites to facilitate problem solving and perform on-site audits. Up to 25% travel.
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline
- 0-3 years of relevant experience, primarily focused on the design, manufacturing, and quality of component parts
Preferred Experiences And Qualities
- Strong problem solving skills and familiarity with techniques such as 5 why's, 8D, pareto analysis, Design of Experiments, DMAIC, and others.
- Basic understanding of statistical tools and their application to manufacturing processes (ie, process capability studies, establishing process control limits, etc)
- Experience working in an ISO regulated manufacturing facility or ISO standards is a plus
- Training and experience in the use of GD&T
- Understanding of measurement methods
- Experienced with Oracle
- Self-starter with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and complete projects
- Works well with others and is able to coordinate efforts with own and other departments
- Able to operate independently with limited oversight
- High attention to detail
