Callouts:
  • This role is hybrid (blend of remote, in office and in field work) in the Melrose Service Center in Rhode Island.
  • Ideal candidate would be ex-Lineman/ Substation backgrounds whom has worked in the field and have experience doing the work.
  • Looking for a technical background with the ability to draft procedures.
 
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and communicate standardized construction standards and methods for Transmission, Distribution, and Substations (TD&S) across three operating companies. These methods must uphold the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and system reliability while improving efficiency of construction. The role involves leveraging best practices from within client and benchmarking against peer utilities to ensure continuous improvement and innovation. It encompasses a broad range of technical disciplines, including overhead and underground distribution, substations, secondary networks, metering, and transmission. By aligning construction practices across these areas, the role supports consistent execution, operational excellence, and strategic alignment across the enterprise

Job Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with subject matter experts across the enterprise to design, develop, and update procedures (including checklists, job aids, work methods, etc. as appropriate) to support work on client equipment, tools, and processes.
2. Coordinate the review of new or revised documents, work procedures, and technical documents with Safety, Enterprise Standards, Training, and other groups so that all new equipment coming onto the system can be safely maintained and operated as per design.
3. Lead construction of equipment mock-ups and simulations for development of procedures and associated training content.
4. Develop communication strategies with stakeholders to improve understanding and adoption of work procedures including participation on committees, delivering presentations, facilitating process improvement meetings, traveling roadshows, etc.
5. Support new client technology initiatives and travel to OpCos as necessary.
6. Represent client as an electric utility partner in industry committees.
7. Seek out, identify, and incorporate new technologies into procedures and associated training materials.
8. May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that is activated during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
9. All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless of if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive.
10. Lead and execute initiatives within the Enterprise Standards as requested by supervision to deploy new technologies and support the grid of the future
11. The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
 
Basic Qualifications:
1. Five-years of construction experience in Electric Utility field work (Journeyman equivalent); or a Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline with two-years of experience in Electric Utility field work (i.e. construction, maintenance, engineering, supervision).

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
2. Proficient technical writing capability.
3. Proficient verbal communications and presentations skills.
4. Proficient facilitation and questioning skills for working with subject matter experts.
