Community Outreach Coordinator – Healthcare

Position Overview

We are seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to support a healthcare enrollment and community engagement program throughout Northern West Virginia. This is a highly visible, field-based position focused on building relationships within local communities, educating individuals about healthcare resources and enrollment services, and representing the program at community events throughout the assigned region.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, and comfortable engaging with the public, developing community partnerships, attending events, and delivering presentations. This position requires someone who can work independently, manage a regional territory, and travel frequently throughout assigned counties.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, government agencies, and other local stakeholders.
• Identify new community outreach and partnership opportunities throughout the assigned region.
• Conduct outreach through phone calls, emails, in-person meetings, presentations, and community events.
• Attend and represent the organization at health fairs, provider meetings, workshops, educational events, and other community activities.
• Educate members, providers, and community partners about healthcare enrollment processes, managed care plans, available benefits, and community resources.
• Deliver presentations and educational sessions to community groups, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
• Visit healthcare offices, community organizations, and partner locations throughout the assigned territory.
• Coordinate event participation and maintain schedules for upcoming outreach activities.
• Research community needs and identify organizations or events that could provide additional outreach opportunities.
• Track outreach activities and maintain accurate records using spreadsheets, reporting tools, and project documentation systems.
• Prepare activity reports and maintain documentation related to community engagement efforts.
• Collaborate with team members across multiple regions to support broader outreach initiatives.
• Occasionally work evenings or weekends based on community event schedules.

Day-to-Day Activities

A typical week may include:

• Attending community events and health fairs.
• Visiting healthcare providers and community organizations.
• Meeting with local partners and stakeholders.
• Building relationships with organizations throughout the assigned counties.
• Conducting presentations and educational sessions.
• Researching new outreach opportunities.
• Making outreach calls and sending follow-up emails.
• Maintaining outreach logs, spreadsheets, and activity reports.
• Planning upcoming events and scheduling community engagement activities.
• Traveling throughout the assigned territory.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Approximately 6 months to 2 years of experience in customer service, community outreach, healthcare, social services, community relations, or a related field.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout the assigned Northern West Virginia service area.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Comfortable interacting with the public and communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in a field-based environment.
• Strong organization, time management, and follow-up skills.
• Comfortable using spreadsheets, email, and general computer applications.
• Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends to support community events.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in community outreach, public engagement, community relations, or event coordination.
• Experience developing relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, or government agencies.
• Experience delivering presentations, conducting educational sessions, or speaking in front of groups.
• Healthcare, Medicaid, managed care, social services, or public assistance program experience.
• Experience working directly with community partners and diverse populations.
• Experience coordinating or attending health fairs, community events, workshops, or similar programs.

Travel & Location Requirements

Candidates must reside in Northern West Virginia and be able to travel throughout the assigned service territory.

The preferred locations for this position are Clarksburg, Bridgeport, or Morgantown, WV.

The assigned service area may include:

Berkeley, Brooke, Doddridge, Hampshire, Hancock, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Marshall, Mineral, Monongalia, Morgan, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor, Tyler, Wetzel, Wirt, and Wood counties.

Because this is a field-based position, candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and flexibility to travel regularly to community organizations, healthcare locations, meetings, and events throughout the assigned territory.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys being out in the community and developing relationships. They should be comfortable approaching new organizations, attending community events, speaking with healthcare providers and community members, and presenting information to groups.

Someone with a background in community outreach, healthcare, Medicaid, social services, customer service, nonprofit organizations, community relations, or public-facing field work would be well positioned for this opportunity.
